She released her debut single Here in the year 2015, when she was just at the age of 19. This single received high praise both from listeners and critics. It peaked at number 19 at both Canadian Hot 100 as well as Billboard Hot 100. Even Rolling Stone ranked the song as one of 2015's Top Songs. Her debut Know It All album in the year that followed. The third single, Scars to Your Beautiful was one of five tracks that made it to the top spots on Billboard including Canadian Albums Chart Billboard 200 in addition to Billboard Hot 100. This particular track was special since based on her interview with the Rap-Up show, many fans shared their experiences through self-doubt and discovering how to love herself. Cara's music has been praised for its messages of kindness in self-love, and mental wellbeing. The music she sings is reflective of her personal battles with insomnia and mental health. In an interview with Reuters she stated that her album is "half chaotic" as well as "half finished". She says that she developed through therapy and she encourages anyone else to seek out help when necessary. Alessia Cara was born to Italian parents on July 11, 1996. Her parents gifted her with a guitar when she was barely the age of 10. It ignited her passion for music. She began singing covers of the songs she loved at thirteen to show the world she had the talent and courage required to become a professional singer. One of her covers, Sweater Weather, was what got her noticed. EP Entertainment gave her an opportunity to develop and compose her own music.
